Half Upon a Time is a book about a boy named Jack, son of the infamous Jack, the one who climbed the beanstalk. He's looking for ways to restore his family's honor, and he gets his chance when a princess falls out of the sky. This is May, who, according to her T-Shirt, is the princess of Punk. (Her shirt says 'Punk Princess') May and Jack set off on a quest to defeat the long-lost-now-returned Evil Queen. Along the way, Jack must prove to himself and to his companion that he is worthy of being a hero... But is he?

This book was super-funny, there were so many interesting references to stories that everyone's heard, but from someone who lives with those characters. Readers who like fantasy fiction will laugh hard during this adventurous book. I give it four stars. Review by: UAC
