This is a book about a happy kingdom known for its delicious food. That is, until the legend of the mysterious 'Ickabog' seemingly comes to life. The King, terrified, hides in his castle, unintentionally allowing his 'friend' Spittleworth to run the kingdom behind his back. What starts with one, twisted man, becomes layers of lies upon lies, until it's hard to know who to trust. Caught in the middle are two friends called Bert Beamish and Daisy Dovetail. They suspect something is up, but outsmarting Lord Spittleworth is a difficult task. Can they save Cornucopia, discover the truth, and stop Spittleworth? Read to find out...
I give this book a three star rating, because it was really cleverly written, but has a bit too much suspense and was a little confusing at times. Review by: UAC
