This book is about a boy named Carter. He lives with his uncle, who says if someone is doing magic they want something out of it, for example: money. That's what Carter's uncle wants. All Carter wants is a home to stay in and a place to feel safe, but his uncle is poor and cannot pay for a house so Carter left. He ran away early one morning hoped on a train and left his uncle.
